Koi & Goldfish Food
|
Treat Your Children Well
The type of food you feed your Koi and goldfish, and the qunatity you offer them at each feeding, has a major impact on their health and growth. Portion control is ke. Feed your Koi just enough food for a 5 minute feeding pattern. Choose a size that is small enough to be eaten by the smallest fish in the pond, otherwise they may dies of starvation. Koi will eat almost anything; avoid feeding them with foods that deliver bulk but are lacking in nutrition.

Buy in Bulk and Save
Many Koi and goldfish keepers purchase larger quantities of food, break the bulk into 3-6 month portions, and freeze what they do not intend to use right away. There are a couple of advantages when you do this. Beyond the savings of buying in bulk, you will have a 'ready reserve' of food for your fish. Reorder when you open the last 3-6 month portion and you can save money by shopping wisely; avoid panic shopping when you run low on fish food.

How Much Fish Food Does 'Bulk' Mean?
This really depends on how many Koi and goldfish you keep. for some, with a smaller school of Koi, 'bulk' might be a 5lb bag of food. Keepers with larger schools will want to consider 25 - 35lb bags. Fish food that has been frozen in 3-6 month portions has a shelf life of 2 years.
