Its asynchronous drive motor allows you to control the water flow with the included variable speed controller. Turn the water flow up for a powerful waterfall, or turn it down for a soothing, gentle flow. Low speeds save on energy cost while still discouraging algae growth. The digital read out will display how many watts the pump is drawing at any given flow level. The energy savings of using the variable feature on these pumps will save you quite a lot of money on your monthly electricity bill. Pressing the buttons up and down will raise and lower the flow. The digital read out will then refresh and display the wattage consumption.
